Kansas City Royals No.1 prospect Jac Caglianone got the call. Late Sunday evening, Jeff Passan broke the news that the 24-year-old home run-hitting machine was instructed to pack his bags immediately for Kansas City.

He will join the team on their road trip to take on the St. Louis Cardinals. Talk about an introduction. Royals and Cardinals always draw larger than normal crowds to the ball park, but Caglianone is a different type of buzz.

The Royals broke the “in case of emergency” glass after an embarrassing shutout defeat and series loss to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

Jac had nothing left to prove in the Minors. He crushed Double-A and Triple-A to a combined 15 home runs between the two levels. His numbers were exactly what the Royals needed to see.

We have been put through a lot with the Kansas City Royals this young season, and it’s been not pleasant. I’ve had to look away in disgust more times than I can count.

Watching the Royals has been like a glass case of emotion for me, and I don’t know about everyone else.

The offense has been dreadful—one-of-a-kind pathetic. I don’t take pleasure in saying that, but that is the truth I have been forced to admit. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here to tell you that Jac Caglianone will help with that.

Cags will bring a legitimate and formidable threat to a Royals lineup that wouldn’t bust a grape in a fruit fight. No one in the lineup is striking fear in opposing pitchers. Not even Bobby Witt Jr.

I would have zero problems inserting Caglianone directly into the middle of the order and, damn, batting him seventh. He has outperformed all our expectations, so now we have to treat him like what he’s shown us thus far is the truth.
