One of MLB’s hottest prospects, Jac Caglianone got his graduation cap.

The Royals No. 1 prospect— and MLB’s No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline—was promoted from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers on Sunday night. He’ll make his AAA debut Tuesday against the Salt Lake Bees (Angels organization).

Cags has been just as impressive if not better than advertised since he was drafted out of Florida. He slashed a ridiculous .322/.394/.553 with a 157 wRC+ in 38 games and sported an OPS of .947. He hit 9 home runs and led the Texas League with 43 RBIs.

He was dominating double-A pitching in recent weeks. Since April 19, he has only gone hitless in a game twice. He was riding a 14-game hit streak where he hit five dingers and 20 RBIs.

Sunday was the bat signal we’ve all been waiting for. We can finally start a serious countdown for Jac Caglianone’s arrival. It was apparent to me that the Royals were serious about Caglianone on the big league roster this year when they started playing him in right field at the end of April. He logged six games in right field and one in left field. Exploring his versatility can only strengthen his chances of impacting the Royals immediately.

His most impressive homer of the season. The dinger that left the stadium.

Part one of the dream scenario for Jac Caglianone’s arrival in the big leagues is complete. He will need to look just as good in Triple-A as he did in Double-A to justify the call up. The big league team is struggling to score runs, and the main focus has been on the middle of the order not producing. Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez have not looked like their 24′ versions, their production has dropped significantly. which is dragging down the Royals’ offenses ceiling. It’s dangerous to expect Caglianone to be inserted into the lineup and fix the woes with the offense. The Royals big three will need to pick it up and hold up their end of the bargain for Caglianone to have the best chance for success in “The Show”.

Jac has had a meteoric rise up the 100 prospect list. He was listed as MLB Pipeline’s No.37 prospect at the start of the season but has reached the top 10 within a few months. We were waiting for Caglianone to make it undeniable for the Royals to move him up, and he did just that.
