The Chiefs wasted no time in extending Hollywood Brown for another season. Brown agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million. This comes hours after the news of Xavier Worthy’s arrest and potential to miss games due to the leagues personal conduct policy.

Brown lost the majority of his 2024 season with a sternoclavicular joint injury he suffered early in the preseason. He was not available to play until Week 16.

The Chiefs signed Brown via free agency in 2024 on a one-year deal worth up to $7 million in base salary, but up to $10 million in incentives. Hollywood missed out on the opportunity to reach those incentives with his injury. The Chiefs will give him another opportunity to earn his incentives in 2025.

The move also makes sense with the current state of the WR room. Rashee Rice is already facing suspension from the league and now Xavier Worthy’s availability is uncertain. When healthy, Brown was a safety net for Patrick Mahomes.

At 28, Brown is still in the prime of his career. He caught nine passes for 91 yards in his two regular season games. He added five catches for 50 yards in three postseason games.
