I know it is early. Very early. It’s only been two starts. One thing I have always learned about sports is that sample size matters. Guys can come out the gate looking like world beaters. You see it in all the professional sports. Deshaun Watson set the league on fire last season. Now he has come back down to earth because teams have seven games worth of film on him. Cody Bellinger hit 39 homerun’s and 97 RBI’s last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers. As of right now, he only has 23 and 71 RBI’s. I say that to say this. Mahomes will struggle at some point. Professional sports is all about how you adjust to people adjusting to you. When coaches and players know what is coming and know what to expect yet they still can’t stop you, that is when you have a great player.

But good lord does Patrick Mahomes look like a freaking star. In his second start he set an NFL record for touchdown passes through your first two games with 10. He also set a Chiefs record for touchdown passes in a game. He threw not one.. not two.. not three.. not four.. not five.. but SIX touchdown passes. He just has confidence and swag dripping off of him all day. Obviously the arm strength stands out. He has the ability to throw receivers open through tight windows but also the touch to loft it over people. Coaches will figure him out a little bit later in the season but Mahomes is special. Add Tyreke Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins and Kareem Hunt and you have an elite offense that can put up points from anywhere on the field.

I’m going to shut up and let you enjoy the Mahomes experience for yourself. Here is every throw from his win against the Steelers. Happy birthday Pat here’s to you.
