We as Royals fans have the luxury of not worrying about a whole lot. The Royals have raced to a 4-1 start and aside from Joakin Soria, have nothing to complain about. We saw the Royals win by hitting single after single and moving the line. We’ve seen them win by smashing 3 home runs (Cain, Moose and Morales). Most recently we’ve seen them win in classic Royals tradition by coming back in the 9th inning and literally stealing a game from the Minnesota Twins. It’s early but if there is more than one team better than the Royals in the American League  I’d love to see them. Here’s some notes from the weekend series with the Twins:

1) This team looks exactly like the team from last year. They really haven’t lost a step and it looks like their main contributors from a season ago will be back doing their thing. Cain, Moose and Kendrys all homered Saturday and Hosmer is swinging the bat well too. He tripled in Sunday’s game that fueled the comeback against the Twins.

2) The Twins are god awful. Like I said, it’s still early but starting 0-6 (now 0-7 after losing to the white sox earlier today) is never a good thing. Actually it’s a shoot yourself in the foot kind of thing. Their defense was horrible as balls that should have been caught were not and opened the door for the Royals to capitalize. There’s a lot of baseball left but it’s safe to say Twins fans are in for a long year

3) Terrance Gore is a weapon. He has to be the fastest man in baseball. I’ve never seen anyone run the bases like this dude. That being said I don’t think he’s worth keeping on the roster once Jarrod Dyson comes back. Paulo Orlando and Dyson will platoon in right and Fuentes will most likely be sent down. Then whenever the Royals need a 13th pitcher, Ned will likely send Gore down and bring up an extra bullpen guy. But what we saw Sunday was the absolute best case scenario for why Gore deserves a spot on the bench. It’s difficult to keep a guy who is only on the team to run and not to hit or play defense. So while Gore’s stay in the major might be brief he will certainly bring an elite skill to the club.

4) Omar Infante could be a difference maker this year. After an a 2015 to forget where he was injured and never found a rhythm, so far he looks like the 2014 Infante who led the team in RBI’s. He’s hitting 308. with 2 RBI’s but it’s his defense that has me impressed. If Infante can keep this play up losing Ben Zobrist won’t be a big loss after all.

So as we go into this series with the Astros just enjoy it. It’s a rematch of last years ALDS so there will be 2 good baseball teams hitting the field tonight. I feel like a lot of Royals fans only look at our team and don’t give the other teams in the league any credit. Our bullpen is not invincible they will give up runs. Wade Davis might even give up a home run this year. It’s baseball. Anything can happen. Expect a hard fought series and maybe a come back or two from our boys in blue.
